(12) WHO
WE ARE

The summer of 2008 was a great time indeed for the Museum of American Glass in West Virginia. The entire California National Marble Museum was received on our doorstep. Most of it had to be placed into temporary storage. We have plenty of floor space to display it, we just weren't prepared with vacant cases. In fact, the purchase of new marble display cases was the longest discussed topic at the September board meeting:

Marbles immediately went on display while the Museum
Board Members (in the background) discussed the
purchase of new Marble Display Cases

A PORTION OF THE MANY DONATIONS
THAT ARE NOW ON DISPLAY

Selection of marbles from the Christopher Robinson donation

Selection of marbles from the Robert Livezey (Stardust Studios) donation

Selection of marbles from the Richard Clark donation

Selection of marbles from the Teign Valley Glass (England) donation

Selection of marbles from the David Salazar donation

Selection of the German Handcrafted marble (1890's) donation by the Cooper family

Selection of hand-painted marbles from the Greg Pessman donation

Selection of the marble donation from Randy and Shelly Knapp

Selection from the Margaret L Davis Collection (Series 0091)

and INDEED, the Roman Marble is also a very important part of our collection

There were a lot of marbles on display that we were not able to take pictures of - for one reason or another - mostly because the glass cases caused bad photographic reflections - sorry.

But we don't want to forget to say THANK YOU to EVERYONE who donated to the National Marble Museum, and we hope that by next year at this time we will have the largest portion of the entire National Marble Museum collection out for everyone to enjoy.

ONE MORE SUBJECT:

At the same time that we received the wonderful marble donation, we completed the installation of new flooring, lighting, and shelving for our new library room. Many of the glass book donations are now available for members to read - HOWEVER - we are lacking a good selection of books on marbles. PLEASE DONATE any old, used, "I don't need this book anymore" to our library. If the dog chewed on the book, the pictures might still be useful, so send it along too.

Here is everything you need to send us a donation:
